Oh, please. Who on Earth could have possibly voted that people with a functioning system shouldn’t get a waiver? Instead of hiding behind the poll, stand up and explain why?

Explain to me why, simply because of my geographical location in town, I am somehow more fiscally responsible for the entire town’s sewer, than the rest of the townspeople outside of the district.

I formally -challenge- you to convince me that I am somehow special and deserve to pay more than someone else in town, for a town project.

If you can, I will change this blog and tout the sewer until the cows come home. And, I’ll gleefully hand over my $12,000 – $15,000 in advance, right now, to the town, which they can piss away (no pun intended) however they see fit.

    There’s the gauntlet.

Get busy typing, if you have the guts. I challenge you.

      David,
I voted unsure. My answer would be to allow the people in the sewer area with working septic systems on a big enough lot the ability to not connect now. But if in the future, their system begins to fail, then it should be mandatory that they connect. It may be a higher cost to connect at that time so I don’t know which way is better. If the increase is small, and you know your system will last for years, I wouldn’t connect now. I’d wait.

Unfortunately, we will not be afforded the luxury of not connecting — wait, yes we will — wait, no we won’t.

That’s the information that comes out of the town and WPCA. Connection is mandatory, but depending on the wind’s direction, a waiver may, or may not be, available.

        Thanks for voting, Debi!

Posted for “jason” by the editor:

According to the town hall, these many “failing systems” arround the lake and a need to keep the lake clean is cause for this project in addition to business growth enablement and the MANDATORY need for the school’s having to fix their inadequate system (the root source that spawned the sewer project) due to a lack of engineering.

The root cause of these failures is not a burden caused mainly by the residents in the lake district!

But by the town leadership of times past “approval;” of all these INADEQUATE lake areas systems. Why should the new leadership think it is “fair” to burden only these people at a higher expense for the past mistakes not of the residents but our town leadership?

IF the sewer project was because of these “failing systems” around the lake, why aren’t ALL homes on the lake in Phase I, instead of homes that aren’t on the lake? The project was mainly for the school… therefore everyone in town should shoulder the burden . I have invited Mr. Black a couple of times in the past, to come into our neighborhoods, to take a look at the homes that will be burdened with this financial debt. To my knowledge, he’s never bother to take a look. These neighborhoods, for the most part are middle to low middle class homes. I, for one, can not financially afford this project as it stands… and am packing up, getting the home ready to go on the market.

Want to know why ALL the homes surrounding the lake aren’t in Phase 1 (oh, lets just drop the pretense and stop calling it that – there won’t be any other phases)?

      Money.

They don’t have enough of it from the original vote to build what the townspeople approved. Remember, they’ve only got enough approved to complete 60% of the project now.

But, don’t you worry about protecting the lake, Karen. It’s not about that anymore, right WPCA?

      Hello? WPCA, are you there?

For anyone that is voting against the majority in the 2 polls on this site, it would be extremely educational for you to explain your thought process and whether or not you live within the “sewer district”. I would like to see if you can convince me that you are right and I am wrong.
